Leo Season -- The Portal Opens

Welcome back folks! And congratulations on making it through a very emotionally turbulent month. If you weren’t a believer of astrology before, I am sure you are opening yourself up to it now (especially with the Uranus into Gemini transit). The inner and outer chaos you felt, did not reflect everyday normal circumstances—and it left you clueless as to what is going on in the stars? How do I know this? Well I was SWAMPED with astrology readings this month, and even had a few people I know who are astrology skeptics reach out to me asking if the stars are to blame with this current energy. What is happening now is beyond normal, and by tuning into what energy workers are currently saying (or have been shouting LOL) may help you navigate this extreme transition in mother natures evolution with more understanding and clarity.

First off——the predicted tsunami in the pacific north west did NOT happen (thank god!!!), however I have been telling people that we aren’t out of the word works yet. The energy is still extremely volatile, and with Uranus now in Gemini (which is intense energy and can bring in surprising natural disasters) and Jupiter in Cancer (which points to it being an event around water), there is still the possibility. Instead, we did see a disastrous flood in Texas (which has been an astrological hot zone over the past year due to the eclipses happening right over it). What was also interesting, was in Alaska, the tsunami alarm sirens went off as a 7.3 magnitude earthquake happened in the Alaskan sea. Luckily only a small tsunami hit the land, but could this be a warning? I would love to deep dive into comparing the charts of Alaska from this day and their last major tsunami in 1964 and see any correlation.

In addition, as I write this today, 3 earthquakes of a 7.4 magnitude happened in the Pacific Ocean just off the coast of Russias Kamchatka peninsula. There was another major warning of a large tsunami happening and also hitting Hawaii, but later got cancelled (again)(although major waves did hit the Hawaii coast). There is a pattern taking place here, so again I heed the warning to be vigilant during these times to all my island and coastal friends.

Now lets do a recap of the themes that popped up during Cancer season:

**(major transit) July 7th— Uranus entered Gemini

  • talks about new political parties that represent more of the majority are popping up (Vancouver)
  • Pierre campaigns about how prairie provinces need to ban together to start up their oil reserves
  • Mark Carney gets booed while attending Calgary stampede
  • Daniel Smith partners with Doug Ford to connect Alberta and Ontario to fight for Canada made only vehicles to boost Ontarios economy, to fight against EV mandates, to fight for pipelines to carry and connect oil to refineries in Ontario (Changing transport),  to fight against net zero. Doug Ford says in his speech “We are going to protect to North Strong and Free” in the most classical Uranus in Gemini fashion. They are going to completely eradicate interprovincial trade barriers between these two provinces.
  • Talks about Canada becoming the leading super power in clean energy and resources—especially towards minerals for generating AI and making electric vehicles.
  • Trump announces any country associated with the BRICS nations will get a 10% Tariff
  • (few days before) The LGB community protests against the TQIA++

Discussion: to me this highlights themes around what is to come during this 7 year long Uranus transit. As discussed many times, this period is predicted to be a time of social upheaval and unrest. Major changes to social structures, how we communicate, and our close-knit communities. Major changes to our alliances (country-wise and personal). Social justice causes will be increased, but go through major changes and destruction within them. Huge changes to our transport systems and vehicles. And the biggest change? A move towards a technologically advanced future.

Other things I noticed:

  • Right at the beginning of Cancer season, democrats favourite Bernie Sanders went on Joe Rogan. Bridging a gap between the left and right political parties through an enjoyable nuance discussion.
  • The major conservative commentator “The Pleb” is back after taking time off to grieve the election results.
  • Epstein files were announced saying “there are none?” And Diddy had all his charges dropped. This caused a complete social unrest that has been bringing together the left and right political parties. This also highlights the corruption that is happening on both sides, which people are coming together to fight against. There was plenty of gaslighting at this time (ripe in Cancer season), but the mass weren’t falling for it.
  • The political right has been splitting up, while also the political left has been splitting up. Much more people are moving towards the centre. The political left has been splitting up on the idea of identity politics, while the political right has been splitting up on the topic of the Israel/Gaza conflict and the corruption happening within the Trump administration.
  • In the background, AI is getting stronger and stronger. Apps like Chat GPT are getting used and normalized more frequently and being brought up in everyday conversations as if it’s always been a tool to use (even though this has only been around for just under two years).
  • I have honestly been too busy to even keep up with all the information coming out online over the past month or so… so I am sure there are many more topics I have missed. But I have been trying to keep notes when I see something pop up of interest.

Discussion: It feels like the fight is back in momentum. There was a lull after the Canadian election, where I felt people were just accepting the outcome of the direction of Canada. There was plenty of action happening at the first half of the month—but now it has gone quiet again (likely due to the number of planets in retrograde now). I suspect the action will start moving forward mid Leo season once Mercury leaves retrograde and we inch closer to eclipse season in September. Right now is about inward revision, realigning with our OWN truth—rather than what the algorithm has been trying to push. I will get into this below when I discuss the Mercury retrograde theme we are experiencing in Leo.

Now lets get into the archetype of Leo!!:

Leo is a fixed fire sign that arrives in the middle of summer (when everything is at its hottest). It is the 2nd fire sign, meaning it has already navigated initiating the identity and the ironing of the kinks that comes along with that. It is in a slightly more matured period of it’s elemental growth and ready to share the fire with another. Hence why Leo is associated with all matters of the heart (which it rules in medical astrology)—including passion, love affairs, intuition and passionate creativity, and the child.

If you are following the zodiac wheel, you follow a story of a lifetime journey. Aries is the newborn, Taurus is the understanding of physical reality, Gemini is the lovers (meeting another and merging your bond)(while also harnessing your intellect), Cancer is the conception of a creative project or baby, and now Leo is the birth of that baby—the enjoyment you go through in raising and witnessing the creativity of a child or your creative project. The sign of Leo is like seeing life through the eyes of a child, and yes there can be the elements of narcissism that comes with that.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, which is the centre of our solar system. Without the Sun, there would be no life on Earth. When you think about the importance of Vitamin D in our bodies, without it, we would be chronically depressed, unmotivated, uncreative, cold, and stagnant. The Sun is essential for the growth of every living thing, and we use it for fuel. Think about the rise of solar panels and electric cars which can run solely on the power of the Sun. Without Leo, life would surely be quite dull.

But there is a flip side to that, as when someone gets too close to the Sun, they burn. Too much Sun can be detrimental, leading to skin cancer, painful burns, dried up plants (if not balanced with enough water), droughts, heat exhaustion, and unsustainable life.

This points to the balance that a Leo must learn throughout its’ life. It carries the strong energy of the Sun, but where does it want to direct that energy? If it holds onto all of it itself (as seen in a narcissistic and selfish personality), then they are likely to burn their bridges to those around them. They can become self absorbed, all about “me, me, me”, obsessed with their bodily image and beauty, overpower those who are vulnerable, and only care about their points of view. However, if they learn to share that inner Sun or light with another, they can warm even the coldest of hearts, create the most heartwarming and passionate creative projects, and help others access their own inner fire and confidence. They have the largest heart of the zodiac, so sharing that heart is essential in their spiritual journey.

Liz Greene talks about Leo needing to go through the heroes journey (which is also something every sign does in their own way, but Leo is the definition of this). There are many myths that indicate that Leo needs to work through its apprentice journey, rather than storming in like a King. It starts out clumsy, theatrical, dramatic, and self centred, but as life throws its hurdles at a Leo, they learn that life goes a bit easier for them when they learn humility and train to become the knighted hero they dream to become.

Leo is the sign that represents celebrities and Hollywood. If you were to generalize Hollywood culture, you would note that almost every celebrity goes through a spiralling downfall (either through a public divorce, addiction, eating disorder, cancellation through cancel culture, or any other downfall that humbles them). This is an essential process for a Leo who flies to close to the Sun, they eventually burn up. It is through this process that they begin their real journey into true authenticity and confidence… this time it is true confidence—something people can only truly understand by overcoming a major life challenge. Overcoming or fighting of the monster and becoming the true hero, rather than the false one.

A great representation of a Leo is Harry Potter. Born a celebrity amongst the witches and wizards, but without the effort or fight to get there. His heart is powerful, hence why Voldemort was not able to destroy him, as his capacity for love fought off the evilness and coldness of Voldemort. He enters school being the star of Hogwarts, easily making the Quidditch team, having the capacity to get any girl he wanted, and for awhile, he actually got a bit cocky in the books. But his path wasn’t designed to be easy, it was designed for him to become the true hero, to be brought to his knees and struggle with his identity and confidence, and to in the end—face his darkest fears. Through that process of the unravelling of his persona, his heart became so authentically large that he was able to face the very thing that stopped him from his own individuation process. It was through all his trials and error that his heart was able to heal all those who surrounded him and made them find their own inner confident lion persona. He created the Dumbledores army, and shared his gift of bravery to his fellow students which helped him along the fight to destroy the evil overlord. He always had that level of bravery in him, but he never shared it until near the end.. he was always trying to do it all alone (too much pride).

A Leo must share their heart and gift of confidence and bravery with others. That is their passageway to true authenticity and enlightenment. Its’ opposite sign, Aquarius, is all about guiding through authenticity and letting others shine the light rather than them. Whereas Leo is all about leading through bravery, being the pack leader (or the King)—but sharing their light with those they lead.

So what are the themes we are to experience during a Leo season? Well you are likely to move through your own mini Hero journey. You will likely have more confidence and vitality in yourself, while being at your creative peak of the year. For a sign like Aquarius, it is your time to let yourself shine, rather than sacrificing yourself for the collective. But for the fire signs or signs that don’t struggle to put themselves first, it is a time to share your heart and passion with those around you, rather than hoard it. Whether that is through a creative project, raising a child, or leading a team—be the guiding light and include others in your process. Embrace the Sun at its’ peak, sure, but be weary of flying to close to it.

The Astrology This Month:

Lets talk about the RETROGRADES first:

Pluto, Saturn, Chiron, Neptune, and now Mercury are ALL in retrograde. So what does that mean? We are in a HUGE revision phase.. but also going backwards in some sense. There are things from the past that need healing—all that CRAZY forward motion into intense changes due to the collective planets all changing within the same time period—is giving us a bit of break to reassess our values and belief systems. What may have been true 6 months ago, may not be true anymore. Now it is time to revisit and recalibrate the direction you want to pivot and dive into once all things are a GO in 2026. Remember this year wasn’t meant to be the new chapter quite yet. It gave us hints and slight changes or moves that guided us into new perspectives to prepare us for the official new chapter in 2026. Remember this is a #9 year, the year of the Snake, the year of the unravelling of secrets, of the self, of society, and the final collapse and deterioration of the fabric of our society. And most changes to happen simultaneously to a collapse. The struggle to fix what is crumbling as it crumbles, and then the final acceptance that it makes more sense to build a completely new structure. This is the theme of the year. And while yes, we are gaining insight into what we truly want (with all these collective planets weaving into their new signs), they don’t officially station direct fully into those signs until after these retrogrades end. So take this time to revise your plans and to focus on creating a solid base structure rather than attempting to build. Where the material world is incredibly unsure at the moment, your inner spiritual world is a place you can make unbreakable. Create the most solid internal structure you can make, so that through these challenging times of rebuild and drastic change, you will keep your sanity, boundaries, and humanity. Especially with Mercury being retrograde in Leo for these upcoming couple weeks, you are being asked to search for your true authenticity. The dramatics and theatre will not work for you as they may have before. Use your internal dialogue to figure out what brings you the most passion in life, what makes your heart overflow with love, and ways you can share that love with others around you.

On a macro-scale, we will continue to see the crumble of those who have “flown to close to the Sun”. The dramatics and theatre that may have charmed and worked before, will not be working this time. We will see a fall of a King and the rise of another. We will see a revolt against those who cling to their power and greed, where the people assert that they are the ones truly in charge. And this brings me to one of the most important aspects of the year…..

**I will ignore getting into the personal planets transits.. as you can see that everywhere all over the internet. To summarize: Venus the planet of love, beauty, and peace will transit into Cancer highlighting relationship themes of emotional security. Mars will transit into Libra—causing friction/conflict in peace, relationships, and balance. And Mercury stations direct on August 1st — bringing clarity and more direct communication.

Pluto Opposing the Sun in Leo. —-> July 25th/2025

This will revisit a theme we saw when Pluto conjuncted the Sun on January 21st of this year. This was the day Donald Trump officially began his presidency in the oval office (with his inauguration happening the day before). This was a pivotal moment, where I specifically remember him saying the words “We have entered the golden age”. This moment was important as it was the first Sun/Pluto conjunction for when Pluto officially entered Aquarius for good (for the next 20 years). So this period signified a new chapter in history, a new chapter in powerful, transformational leadership (with Pluto signifying the power and transformation and the Sun representing the King or the leader). But now, they are opposing themselves… so if this leader has failed to be authentic in anyway—Pluto is going to destroy that. Pluto in Aquarius beings power to the collective, not the class leaders. Aquarius is also a sign based on authenticity, truth, freedom, and originality. The people will not be kind to someone who does not follow these essential characteristics. Not only do I suspect this will impact the Trump administration, but also celebrity or Hollywood culture (which has also been deteriorating over the past couple years with Pluto going in and out of Aquarius). Also, it was around January time this year that Justin Trudeau announced he would be stepping down. So we may be hearing about him, or, see the rise of another leader wanting to represent the people of Canada. Just remember around this time, the themes will be about the power of the people OPPOSING the power of the elite. All these themes we are currently seeing happening anyways, which makes sense, as when planets start to become close to aspecting each other is when the action starts rising. But this day will be the peak of something. Pay attention.

Neptune/ Saturn Conjunction (very close to exact) (both in Retrograde)!! — August 1st (same day Mercury goes direct)

  • MARK YOUR CALENDARS… because this looks like it will be a VERY potent day!!!
  • Now moving retrograde at the same time and coming to a very close (but not exact) conjunction in combustable fiery Aries are opposing (loosely) Aries’(which is finishing up in Libra) ruler Mars(which is in Virgo) and squaring Venus at exactly at 1 degree (Making a loose T- Square with Mars)
  • while Mercury is still retrograde in dramatic fiery Leo which conjuncts the Sun and hitting a T-Square with Pluto and the Moon.
  • SOMETHING is dissolving. Things are transforming, the repressed (Neptune) are fighting back while the governing elites (Saturn) are dissolving. Things that were going in the direction of narcissistic leaders (Saturn) are now getting humbled (Neptune). It is getting harder to separate the “common people”—because they are all waking up and at a fast rate.
  • The Moon which is T-Squaring with Sun/Mercury and Pluto, is in Scorpio. Our emotions are DARK this day. We are feeling the heaviness of something dying that has to do with our thoughts and reasoning intellect. It’s something coming to the surface after being hidden for a long time.
  • A possible chance to correct course? To go backwards in our mistakes. To correct our egos.
  • Seeing the others perspectives? A merging of ideas.
  • I wonder if this will have to do with immigrants somehow, as Neptune is the dissolving of Saturns’ boundaries which would represent borders.
  • Also remember, Uranus is the only collective planet that isn’t retrograde right now. So it is moving forward and things are changing surprisingly, even if we feel things are slowed down in our personal lives
  • I will also add, there is a (mind you its’ loose) Grand Trine between Mars, Uranus, and Pluto. This is pivotal for our evolution and regeneration. The planet of war/drive, evolution, and transformations through death and regeneration are working together.

Uranus/ Neptune Sextile — EXACT August 29th (Uranus direct while Neptune in Retrograde) AND IN THE TRIAD OF TRANSFORMATIONS

  • The 3 outer planets (Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune) all make a minor grand trine in the same degree. And again, the only one not retrograde in Uranus! (Which JUST went into Gemini)
  • Because of this, this is an INCREDIBLY potent time energy wise and having the ability to connect with the collective. A huge change is coming.
  • The moon (like on August 1st) is going through Scorpio again and squaring Mercury in Leo. I imagine we are going to feel quite dark that day. Dark emotions battling with our thoughts. Wanting to shine our light, but feeling so heavy. I think online will be filled with intense and emotional reaction (in maybe even a narcissistic way?).
  • Fire and Water dominate the chart

Lions Gate Portal — July 28th- August 12

  • potent energetic and spiritual realms are more accessible which creates an open time for collective shifts to take place (especially with these transits)
  • Normally a good time for manifestation, and it still can be, but just be aware that mercury is retrograde through basically all of it

New Moon in Leo— July 24th

  • Sun + Moon (new moon) in Leo exactly oppose Pluto in Aquarius at 2 degrees!! Making this felt extremely deeply.
  • Then on the other hand… Sun + Moon exactly trine Saturn in Aries at 2 degrees, while also trining Neptune (conjunct Saturn) in Aries.
  • Venus in Gemini squaring Mars in Virgo
  • Two minor grand trines! One being between the Sun/Moon in Leo, Uranus in Gemini, and Saturn/Neptune in Aries - - the other one being the triad of transformations between Uranus, Pluto, and Neptune/Saturn
  • It’s crazy this day is only a couple days away from me writing this!! This is HUGE energy. This is transformative energy. This also could signify a huge event that transforms the collective. Something that is agitating peoples values. Mars is forcing us to focus on getting things organized but its agitating the part of us that wants to be socializing and engaging in conversations with others. Our egos and emotions are going through complete destruction. This is an incredibly potent time to start new. To actually harness the authentic part of yourself that wants to shine.
  • But it can also mean power struggles with authority or struggling to keep your identity amongst the collective. As if the collective is trying to dominate you and your trying your hardest to resist and to remain in your own authentic power.
  • Could be the downfall of a leader that is being gobbled up by the collective. To chart a new path forward. This kicking off this insane month… we are in for some energies!!!!

Full Moon in Aquarius — Aug 9

  • OOOOOFT!!!! Another big one! The Full Moon doesn’t make much connection with other planets, but the sky is tense. Neptune/Saturn in war obsessed Aries are opposing Mars in diplomatic Libra (which also rules lawsuits, the judicial system, and the legal system in general). Where this Neptune/Saturn theme we are currently seeing unfold is showing up as the old structures and governing process is dissolving. Would not be surprised if a major trial gets announced. It is tense, because Aries’ ruler Mars is in its’ opposing sign. Mars wants to act, but Libra wants to create fairness and balance.
  • There is an active Grand Kite in play here which is major support towards huge growth as a collective. The Grand Kite is being pulled by Mars in Libra—-which is making us consider all the options and “weight the scales” before taking action.
  • With the Moon in Aquarius making an inconjunct to Jupiter in Cancer, it is awkward trying to avoid our personal feelings while weighing the options.. because weighing the options makes you consider others perspectives rather than just what your feeling.. it encapsulates the whole of the collective.
  • Mercury (still retrograde) in Leo is opposing Pluto retrograde in Aquarius—-we are going deep into our psyche and dark/buried truths are coming to the surface (especially about our past and the past of our collective history).

Health & Wellness

In medical astrology, Leo (and the Sun) rule the heart, spine, and upper back, all things that present as a courageous, confident, and prideful person. When out of balance, Leo is prone to heart related issues like high blood pressure, blocked arteries, and irregular heartbeat. Where Aquarius (its’ opposite) deals with circulation to the peripheries and low blood pressure, Leo can have almost “too much” vitality (or fire)— leading to high blood pressure. The chakras to treat are the heart and solar plexus, combining the heart centre with strength and courage. It is very important for this sign (and for all of us in this Leo month) to be active in order to decompress from the intensity. Although I am an advocate for cooked food, this is the time of year where consuming raw and cooling foods like salads can be beneficial. Again, this is the hottest time of the year, so consuming cooling foods and refreshments can help with that. We are likely to have a higher digestive fire this month, which means that it is easier to break down raw foods (especially in the prime of harvest season).

Make sure to cool down in water this month. It is a prime time to overheat, which can cause more of the shadow aspects of Leo traits to come out. Try to balance the hot fire when possible.

Theatrics or performing to be centre stage could be very therapeutics this month. Whatever talents you carry, this month is a potent time of executing them and sharing/showing them with others. This can also be the season of love affairs or “summer flings”, making sure to follow your heart this month—will help your heart!

Herbs:

Motherwort — The ultimate Leo herb. Known as “LEOnarus cardiaca” in its’ Latin name, it points towards its’ history being used as a “Leo” herb in medieval medical astrology and as a heart tonic which points towards its’ “cardiac” name. A bitter and cooling herb, Motherwort helps to cool the body down in ways that help with nervousness, tension headaches or body tension, heart arrhythmias, sleep disturbance, menstrual irregularities, and can even support the symptoms of an overactive thyroid (graves disease). It is ruled by the Sun and Venus in astrology—showing its’ connection between the heart, solar plexus (inner sun), and womb/pelvis. Known as the “Lion Hearted” herb, it can help bring your heart courage and strength, help to establish better boundaries, and helping to heal the relationship with your own inner mother.

St Johns Wort, Rosemary and Calendula are strong Leo/Sun herbs—all helping to reduce inflammation, support circulation, and uplift the mood. However, these are not the herbs I would use to treat a Leo—I would use them to help bring Leo into someone who is lacking in their vitality.

Borage — A great ally for the heart of Leo season. Another herb known for “courage” (borage for courage), it is flowering everywhere this time of year. The leaves, flowers, and seeds are used in herbal medicine. The flowers are normally added into salads to add a “cucumber-like” flavour, and the leaves can be used in tea or tinctured to have a cooling affect in the body and support the adrenal system through a busy summer. (Just don’t consume the leaves for longer than a month without breaks (or if you have liver disease) as it can be a bit hard on the liver long term).
