New Moon in Scorpio
November 9th at 1:02 am CST
I call this one “the shift after the release”
This Full Moon makes square to Scorpios ruling planet Mars
So expect to feel uncomfortable and possibly tense. Because Square aspects create friction for change and adjustment.
Part 1 — What is Mars doing? Scorpios Ruler
To understand the energy behind this New Moon, the ruler (Mars) is important. So what is Mars doing? Mars is approaching this Jupiter/South Node conjunction that will be taking place mid month in the sign of Leo.
Leo is the theatrical, dramatic, and self expressive Lion of the zodiac. Leo is essentially our ego, as it is ruled by the ultimate harbinger of our solar system.. the Sun. All planets revolve around the Sun, just like socially many revolve around Leo personalities.
Mars represents the potent and direct planet of war and conflict. It is the planet that doesn’t hesitate to charge when it needs to. Impulsive and aggressive as it may be, it normally does so for a reason. Warriors protect for a reason.
Jupiter is the sky god, the wisdom sharer. Jupiter rises above the mundane to understand the whole picture. Jupiter brings exuberance, grandiosity, luck, fortunes, and tends to expand around whatever planet it makes contact to.
The South Node is the point in which we are being forced to let go of in order to move towards the opposite sign of the North Node transit which is asking us to evolve towards.
This year, Jupiter is doing a year long transit through Leo — so this Leo archetype is being expanded in society. We are seeing more and more people creatively expressing themselves and putting themselves out there. While simultaneously, burning themselves out by trying to please the algorithms or compete against millions of others doing the same thing. (aka the shadow side of Leo)
With the South Node in Leo, we are being asked to let go of the performative and inauthentic expressions that are not actually coming from our heart and deep creative needs, but rather, our underlying need to be seen for the sake of being seen.
We must look towards the North Node to understand what direction society is trying to head towards. With the North Node in Aquarius, we are seeing society blend together, less individuality and more conformity. Less about the individual and more about the group dynamics. Less about the towns and more about the cities. Less about the individual countries, and more about the world at large. However, without balance, we risk moving into a communistic society ruled by the individual. This is when dictatorial leaders can become a problem.
First question: I repeat, are you just performing for the sake of performing, or, are you performing from your heart and authentic self?
Because in order to not lose your own identity, it is essential that you differentiate that. And, if you want to actually grow rather than hide in your south node placement, then make sure your heart and goals are in alignment with what direction you want to see the world head towards.
In addition, Chiron the wounded healer (who is finishing up its longgg 9 year cycle through Aries), makes a loose trine to Mars (which is a harmonious alignment). And that is giving us the courage to act on our own individual needs and highlight what it is we need to voice and stand up for to defend it.
Now, Mars is also making a great alignment to another planet.. which we will get to later.
Part 2 — Back to this new moon in Scorpio
On Wednesday, November 4th, we had a mercury cazimi (with mercury being retrograde) in the sign of Scorpio. This means mercury and the sun joined together and the Sun shines massive light onto the themes behind this mercury retrograde. When mercury is retrograde, is shifts our thoughts and communications inward. We begin to think a lot about the past and review where we are at within the themes of Scorpio. Now this Scorpio energy really started back in early September when Venus first moved into Scorpio, followed by Mercury, then the Sun. With the chapter fully coming to a close when Venus finally stations direct on Nov 13th/14 (take note) and moves through Scorpio fully to come out on the Capricorn New Moon in 2027.
So think back, what has been the overall Scorpionic theme that has been happening for you since early September? Themes of either death, sexual taboos, secrets coming to light regarding relationships and finances, toxic communication dynamics that came to the surface, debt/inheritance/tax returns (and possible disputes over that). Likely the insight hit you like a brick on Wednesday (again November 4th), and this New Moon will now be an easier process to understand what it is you truly need to transform on a cellular and deeper level. Because this makes a square to it’s ruler Mars in Leo, intuitively I believe the struggle lies between really sitting with who you are on a deep non bullshit level, to be able to see the whole truth about yourself and your own vulnerable needs so that you can actually express yourself from a place of true authenticity.
In addition, the world is becoming so blurred, so bizarre, so hard to spot the real beyond the fake. And how can you notice the difference if you do not truly understand who you are. Perhaps it is blocked by toxic influences or or own obsessive habits that need to change. Be honest with yourself. What is holding you back? What is keeping parts of you buried beneath the surface trapped in the underworld. Separating you from your whole self?
Part 3 — Venus and Mars
Venus and Mars will make a lovely sextile to each other on this New Moon. This is important. Because Venus and Mars made quite the show in October when they made a T-Square with Pluto (which is one of the harshest alignments to navigate in astrology). On a larger scale, we were seeing this as Man vs Woman, dark feminine vs the heroic and egoic masculine. Power struggles taking place within relationships. Disagreements on how to move forward.
It is interesting to me because of the political times we are in. Mars, which represents the masculine, falls into more “conservative” politics. While Venus, which represents the feminine, falls into more “liberal” politics. Forget the political gender blah blah blahs and think in terms of natures feminine and masculine polarities. Throughout October the divide was big because of the American mid terms and the Alberta separation vote… but now we have this ending with this lovely sextile.. and it feels people are over the separation and just want to figure out a way of unity and figuring out a balance between the two.
But this sextile now brings a conclusion of some sort. And with Venus retrograde now back in Libra (the sign it rules and likes to be in), we have this amazing opportunity to renegotiate our partnerships. And with the recent mercury cazimi I talked about, we likely got insights into how to move forward with these partnerships.
Part 4 — Venus and Mercury station direct
In just a couple days after this New Moon (Nov 13th), Mercury and Venus station direct after a gruelling October of feeling confused, stuck in dark or deep emotions, and forced to face that which we were ignoring. These two planets stationing direct now give the green light for moving forward (GENTLY, I caution gently). You will likely have more of the bigger picture on how to move forward now, and with that, you can draw up a plan to do so.
However, I do not think this is the green light to jump forward. We still have 5 major planetary bodies plus Chiron in retrograde. The energy is still preventing full forward movement. But the thoughts clear up, and the relationship dynamics can now feel like they can be sorted out. Less energy stuck in the mind, and more out into your relationships. It will be a great time to discuss your plans forward with another. We will finally have an earth planet placement end of this month when Mars moves into the planning and grounded sign of Virgo, and Saturn will station direct as well.
I have been cautioning all my clients to hold off on any MAJOR changes until 2027, mainly because this Scorpionic chapter likely needs to play out until the end when Venus finally leaves Scorpio and moves into Sagittarius on the Capricorn new moon.
Tarot Card Pull — Reversed 4 of Swords

This is the most perfect and fitting card to have popped out of the deck. The 4 of swords is all about mental exhaustion after a chaotic or hard to navigate time period. It is the rest card before the battle. This essentially has been the card to summarize this period we went through since the beginning of October. Plans were not moving forward, the more we tried the more resistance we were met with. This was our time to rest and not try to figure everything out. To actually feel into the depths of our emotions that this time period was asking us to do.
With this card now being reversed, this New Moon is giving the green light, that the mental truce or rest is coming to an end. The clarity and insights have now been downloaded into the psyche, and we have an opportunity to take the steps that we need to take to move towards that which we have been envisioning. We now have more of the full picture.
