Description

St Johns Wort (Hypericum perforatum)

St Johns Wort is an ancient flower used for protection back in medieval times. Spiritually it is used to ward off demons or the devil, but scientifically it is used to ward off the demons of the mind (e.g. depression). With plenty of studies done on its efficiency for supporting those with depression disorder, it is a powerful herb. It works very similarly to antidepressants, where it prevents the re-uptake of serotonin, dopamine, and noepinephrine so that it will be held in the synapse for longer — which overtime improves mood. However, with St Johns Wort there isn’t the hefty amounts of side effects that anti-depressants give. To get the best results, it is best to consume a fresh plant tincture in similar daily doses, however, having it in tea form or creating a tincture from dried herb will still offer mood boosting benefits.

It is also used for nerve pain — internally (tincture or capsules) and topically (when made into an oil). Also great for nervous digestions that is related to the mood. It is also a potent anti-viral, and can work on enveloped viruses (viruses that will hide in the body and frequently come back when triggered).
